I found the 8 bit synthesized parts a bit too loud and irritating. Ok animation and design but I think it's a bit downgraded compared to your previous works.

I'm still not sure what "Fundies" means in these shorts. Is it like slang for first year foundation? But damn, please tell me you somehow got that F off your transcript! D: How can administration get away with something like that?

Raziberry responds:

It's short for "Art Fundamentals".
And yeah, it's bullshit. But my school had a notoriously terrible admin. Fuck it.

We had a portfolio day in my first year of art school and in my class of like 12 people half of them had mostly middle school level work featuring mostly anime and furry drawings in their portfolio, I'm not joking. Before I entered art school an ex-friend once said, "Getting into art school is easy, they literally accept ANYONE." Although I was skeptical when he said this, I was shocked at how true it was when we had that portfolio day in class. Keep in mind, this wasn't one of those diploma factory art schools you have seen advertised on TV. This was an accredited 4 year art school in my city and is well known because Walt Disney took classes there Saturdays as a kid. And to be honest, I was shocked when my portfolio was accepted and I got accepted into the school (because it mainly contained mediocre nude life drawings and one really good self portrait.) Unfortunately, today I think most art schools will accept anybody with a portfolio no matter how bad it is because they are such money grabbing greedy bastards.

I can relate to a few parts in this especially the whole "not telling people what you do for a living because of disrespect." I went to an art institute after high school and left after the first year because I didn't want to end up in debt with $140,000 in tuition fees like my friends. The last two years I had a job at Target doing the easiest thing in the world which was stocking stuff in the Health and Beauty department. I quit mainly because I saved enough to go back to school and because I hated my coworkers and supervisors. I never had problems with customers (they were surprisingly the only thing tolerable at my job) but the disrespect from supervisors and other upper management treating anybody like a special education student just because they weren't in an office position or telling others what to do made me furious. Like you I often have to keep reminding myself what you said, "You aren't 'Where you are' you are 'Where you're going.'"

Okay I will start with the positives first then the negatives.

Positives: You have great voice acting and the sound is very crisp. It's VERY hard to get clear voice recordings from others, I have tried and there's always some horrible unfiltered crap in the background. You have an okay color scheme.

Negatives: The character's heads are constantly changing shape and size, and I don't mean the obvious like side view and front view (those are obviously going to differ in size on animals like wolves.) What I am talking about is the inconsistency in the design. The Wolf's head in times; 0:38 , 0:54 and 1:24 all look very different in design. The anatomy of both character's are a bit flawed. From 1:04 - 1:08 the arm and the hand of the Lynx are out of proportion.

What I really recommend is practicing drawing people in real life to grasp good anatomy and perhaps pick up some good anatomy books at the store or library. A Japanese friend who does professional manga recommended a book to me a few years back called: Figure Drawing for All It's Worth. Check it out if you can. Also, try videotaping people or getting videos from youtube or other video sites and study the action in a program that lets you look at each frame (like VirtualDub.) Lastly, make a set of the characters heads from ALL angles. If you are near a zoo and they have Lynx or wolves there try sketching them from every possible angle (the best time to go to the zoo and see the animals up close is VERY early in the morning, like right when the zoo opens.) you can also videotape them.

Very last note, I understand you put a lot of work into this, I should know, frame by frame animation is no easy feat. I did a 2 minute animation a few years back and it took 2 months to complete, and this was without barely any sleep. Keep working at it and you will improve a lot!

RiffDumpster88 responds:

OK, so all that advice about animation is great, but the problem is I'm not the one who animated this... I commissioned this animation (like I stated in the description). I did the voice of the wolf, the soundtrack, the script, and the post production effects.

THIS NEEDS TO BE ON THE FRONT PAGE!

Animation is alright but pokemon is so overused in submissions on newgrounds. I get Pokemon was one of the favorite games of the 90's generation but can't we move on to another series for new material? Reminds me of early newgrounds when Mario and Sonic flashes were spammed everywhere. You have talent obviously but try using material that isn't a dime a dozen.

Man you've improved a lot animation wise! Some parts are still a bit sketchy and could use some refining but other than that, you're still rocking that sick humor! Alfred would make Ted Bundy proud!

I missed seeing you update on newgrounds! Glad to see you back! Oh, and excellent animation as always. :D

Not bad! I think this would be a great kid's show for Nickelodeon. The characters designs and the voices are really great! The only thing I would suggest improving on is the sync of voice and mouth movement by making it a little bit smoother. Other than that, this short was really great. :)
